On 29 May, DOU published an article by Oleksandr Kaleniuk, Software Engineer at Materialise and lecturer at the Department of Digital Technologies in Energydedicated to the educational programme in visual computing.
In the article, the author clearly explains what the term “visual computing” includes: computer graphics, 3D modelling, computer vision, video processing, virtual and augmented reality, medical visualisation, and industrial optimisation. The article also highlights the practical value of this field — from supporting 3D printing and energy modelling to applications in medicine and defence technologies.
The article also describes how the Department of Digital Technologies in Energy developed the first educational programme in visual computing in Ukraine, as well as the research conducted at the department: wind flow modelling, triply periodic surfaces for heat exchangers, and devices for control in virtual reality.
